The Girl Behind the Art

Jenny, the girl behind the artThe Girl

Hello. Welcome to my website. Thank you for visiting - I hope you like what you see. If you have any questions, I am only an email away.

My name is Jenny James and I'm an artist, graphic designer and art tutor. Being a person who loves all things with colour and or texture, I think my job creating, teaching and sharing art, craft and design with the world is a perfect fit.

My cow avatar is named Georgiegirl and was created in Adobe Illustrator based on a dairy cow from a series of photos I took while with my Dad at his local golf course in the Fleurieu Peninsula of South Australia.

One of the local cows was very curious of my camera and forced her way through the herd to get a closer look. Her big brown eyes and gorgeous long eyelashes just begged to be part of my creative world so I vectorised her portrait.

Jenny, the girl behind the artMost people expect my logo to consist of a frog or cat, being that I’m surrounded by them here in my home and studio but I just fell in love with my happy cow!

Whenever you see Georgiegirl the Cow throughout virtual universe or in the real world, like on your local shopping centre's noticeboard, you will know that person is me.

The Artist

I love to draw, paint, mess about with texture and colour, scrapbook, crochet and embroider… I’m a self-confessed artaholic (hence the name “Art by Jenny”) and always immerse myself in all things art and/or craft – paper, books, textiles, threads, paint, mediums, pencils, crayons, ink or markers. You’ll find that most of my artwork is of animals, plants or from the land of make-believe. My parents are very talented at everything they do - I’m very lucky and grateful that they shared their skills.

Art Workshops ... Something on Saturday

Attend workshops at the Art by Jenny Studio which is in a beautiful beachside (nearly!) suburb in southern Adelaide, or enquire about my Travelling Art School to learn in the comfort of your own home, one on one or with friends. My Travelling Art School is also available to teach workshops or hold demonstrations at community groups, schools or shops.

Techniques include drawing/sketching (digital and traditional), painting (watercolour pencils, markers and paints, acrylic paints), mixed media, art journaling, tangling (also called doodling or Zentangle), papercraft and cardmaking, quilling, scrapbooking, crochet and hand embroidery.

I also teach a variety of very popular papercraft and mixed media techniques inspired by world reknown creatives, Tim Holtz and Jane Davenport. I could namedrop here with so many other inspiring and talented artists who inspire me to be creative every day, but I won't, the list would be way too long! Visit my profiles at Redbubble, Facebook or Pinterest to be inspired as well.
